It has been nearly a year since the City of Los Angeles was severely wounded (January 2025).  The city and various private companies have moved quickly to clean up the debris and now, though the desolation is still visible in the Palissades (and in Altadena), the Pacific Coast Highway at Malibu is again open for cruising and the ocean is as grandiose as ever. From the ocean to the high desert, now  is always the best time to discover the less traveled roads out and about Southern California.
